Mission:
It is the mission of the Foundation to empower our children by serving their needs in a way that helps them realize their own potential.

Philosophy:

It is the belief of the Foundation that promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of all adults. The Foundation intends to make a difference in the lives of children by strengthening families in need of physical, emotional and spiritual support. The Foundation’s programs will allow opportunities for families to lovingly raise each child to fulfill their greatest potential to stand with integrity in the world.

Values:

* When in doubt, trust in the goodness of the human spirit
* Suspend judgment, listen more carefully, be heard by speaking through your heart
* Come from a place of respect
* Maintain the integrity of your word and this foundation
* Take risks when there is great opportunity for good
* Own up to mistakes
* Use this foundation as a tool to keep family ties strong through our common mission

Foundation Design and Goals:

We are a non-profit, private operation foundation and as such we directly oversee, hire and coordinate programs. The Foundation looks to create and enhance programs in collaboration with organizations serving young people. We are not a grant making entity.

In an effort to continuously develop the quality of our programs we seek the active participation of collaborating organizations in evaluation of quality, effectiveness and suitability of programs offered.

Our goal is to provide successful programs that become worthy of institutionalization within the organization served. The Foundation will provide initial funding and will work with the participating organization to transition to a self-funded status.

History:

The Foundation donor, Nancy H. Russell, "Honey", has held children's welfare near to her heart all her life. The Foundation, named after her, was founded in December 2000. Under the guidance of her daughter, Gaye Russell-Bruce, the Foundation has undertaken a series of initiatives in its short tenure. Working closely with the Probation Department of Monterey County, six initial programs have been introduced to reduce delinquency and improve child welfare. The Foundation, as an operating foundation, will be seeking partners to enhance these programs.

Board of Directors:

Nancy "Honey" Russell, Trustee

Gaye Russell-Bruce, President

Donald K. Bruce, CFO, Secretary
